Job SummaryThis is a responsible and technical position within the Parks Department with a wide variety of duties pertaining to the maintenance of parks and parks facilities. The Foreman is responsible for the important functions of the Parks Department as well as working with the general public. This individual must have knowledge of County policies, specifications and construction procedures. This individual works under the supervision of the Parks Superintendent. Major Essential Duties
  • Acts as Assistant to the Parks Superintendent, as relates to Parks Maintenance.
  • Supervises and prepares park and recreational areas and facilities for the safe use by the public. Supervises maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, equipment and grounds, including capital improvements necessary for the upkeep and growth of the County Park and recreational areas and facilities.
  • Installs, inspects, keeps records of maintenance as required, and repairs electrical, plumbing and other related systems, and has knowledge of basic electronics.
  • Operates and supervises operation and training on various types of automotive machinery and equipment, including trucks, tractors, mowers, and various types of mechanical and electrical tools.
  • Supervises plumbing, roofing, painting, carpentry, electrical and concrete repairs and improvements, and performs same as needed.
  • Must keep abreast of OSHA regulations.
  • Available and on call for maintenance emergencies.
  • Performs related duties as required.
Minor Essential Duties
  • Ensures the safety of Parks employees.
  • Ensures that all Parks daily functions are performed.

  • Ensuring the Parks and facilities are safe for the public.

RequirementsQualifications Education and/or Experience
  • High School Education
  • Construction Experience
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical skills
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Playground Inspection Certification
  • Class A CDL
Other Knowledge and/or Skills
  • Ability to act in the absence of the Park Superintendent, as relates to Parks Maintenance.
  • Ability to install, inspect, repair, and maintain the electrical, plumbing, and other related systems of the County parks areas and facilities.
  • Ability to operate various types of machinery and electrical tools, including trucks and tractors.
  • Ability to understand complex written and oral instructions.
  • Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties.
  • Knowledge of techniques necessary to perform grounds keeping, athletic field maintenance, planting, and litter control.
  • Ability to inspect, clean, and repair the automotive and manual equipment used in the maintenance and improvement of park areas and facilities, including preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to deal firmly, tactfully and responsively with the general public.
  • Ability to give oral and written instructions to maintenance staff.
  • Ability to work in less than favorable weather conditions.
  • Ability to work under general supervision.
  • Ability to perform other duties as required.
  • Ability to read and write basic English, supplemented by considerable experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing, equipment, ground and athletic field maintenance; or any combination of experience and training which provides the desirable knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Salary Description $28.58 an hour but negotiable with experience
