Parks Maintenance Worker - CITY OF FRIENDSWOOD : Job Details

The City of Friendswood is currently accepting applications for a Parks Maintenance Worker.Purpose of the Job: To maintain and upkeep the City's parks, buildings, grounds, and structures.Duties:* Assists in the construction and maintenance of park facilities and City buildings.* Performs routine grounds maintenance, including watering, fertilizing, cutting grass, trimming trees and hedges, planting plants, filling in holes, and picking up litter and other debris.* Drives truck, tractor mower, and other vehicles to perform maintenance duties.* Operates weed eaters, edgers, power saws, and other equipment.* Services and cleans vehicles and equipment.* Performs routine facility maintenance, including, plumbing repairs, carpentry, painting, electrical work, air conditioning repair, and irrigation repair and installation.* Digs and fills holes and ditches.* Assists with setting up the annual Fourth of July, Santa in the Park, Holiday Hustle Fun Run and other departmental sponsored events.* Operates the mosquito spraying truck to fumigate the City.* Performs other duties within the areas of responsibility and ability, as assigned.Skills and Knowledge:* Basic knowledge of the use, care, and maintenance of hand tools, testing instruments, and small power tools.* Basic knowledge of the operation of a tractor, generator, and mosquito sprayer.* Advanced knowledge of plumbing, painting, carpentry, irrigation, electrical work and basic HVAC knowledge.Minimum Requirements:Two years' experience* High School diploma or G.E.D* Valid Texas Drivers License with a good driving recordThis job may require 24 hour availability in an emergency situation
