As one of our teammates, you not only have the opportunity to serve others and immerse yourself in the organization you get paid to make a true difference!PURPOSEThe Accounting Clerk is responsible for accounting and clerical tasks related to maintaining and processing accounts payable transactions. The Accounting Clerk assists with monthly and yearly reports and reconciliations as well as maintaining good vendor relationships and accounts. The Accounting Clerk overall administrative support to the accounting and finance team through exceptional teamwork and customer focus. This position works for Campus Auxiliary Service and is located at the prestigious SUNY Geneseo campus and serves students, faculty and other constituents with a high level of customer service.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSVerifies all vendor invoices have proper documentation and ensures accurate entry and reporting in a timely manner to ensure accuracy and prevent late fees or penaltiesSets up new vendors and maintains vendor payment termsMaintains all vendor accounts payable files including open payables, paid invoices and back upGenerates a positive and collaborative vendor relationship by responding to inquiries and or concerns or special arrangementsBalances all vendor statements against invoices. Works directly with vendor to resolve discrepanciesAccurately reports on monthly card sales for on campus affiliates/venuesBalances CAS credit card invoices for proper documentation and codingCreates student and staff identification cardsProvides customer facing support for the business office by responding to inquiries and helping customers both in person, on the phone and through emailsFunctions as a courier in the absence of regularly scheduled individualOther duties may be assigned to reach individual and organizational goalsSKILLS AND COMPETENCIESExcellent communication and interpersonal relationship buildingOutstanding customer service and focusProblem solvingStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsBusiness acumenAbility to prioritize tasks based on continual shifting needsProficiency in Microsoft products and various accounting software applicationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEAssociates degree in accounting or related field and one year related experience OR equivalent combination of education and/or experiencePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSExtensive computer useContinued sitting, standing bend and/or stoop for prolonged periods of timeAbility to lift up to 25 pounds occasionallySCHEDULE REQUIREMENTSMonday through Friday 9:00am - 2:00pm or 10:00am - 3:00pmRate of pay: $19-22/hourBENEFITS PACKAGEComplimentary dining at our on campus restaurants and cafesMy Better Benefits discount servicesEmployee will receive vacation and sick time hoursIn support of the ADA, this job description lists only the responsibilities and qualifications deemed essential to the position.
