Educator:Part-Time After-School Staff, We Call Our Educators

Schedule: Part-time schedule working typically 2:30 pm-6:00 pm (may vary slightly) Monday-Friday (must be able to work Monday through Friday)

Location- After School Program located inside Wiseburn Middle School @ 5504 W 135th Street, Hawthorne, CA 90250

Requirements: Complete a new LIVE Scan fingerprint and provide or obtain a completed Health Certificate with a Negative TB Test from a physician, 18+ years of age, High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:1+ years of experience with youth ages 12 years-14 years in a school or group setting

Pay Range: $19.00-$21.00 per hour (depending on years of experience in youth childcare in a school or group setting)

You'll drive the mission by:

  • Organize program materials for lessons and activities, as well as document attendance, incidents and other observation
  • Deliver our dynamic daily curriculum to engage children in academic and social character-building that expands school day learning in a meaningful way
  • Using your coursework training and our in-person training, model positive guidance and effective classroom management to maintain the safety, well-being and attention of all children while supporting homework completion, leading fun fitness activities, and guiding children at play
  • Excellent communication skills with varied audience including children, parents, staff and school personnel
  • Model positive guidance and effective classroom management to maintain the safety and well-being and attention of all children
  • Meets regularly with the Program Manager regarding professional progress and team accountability

Ideal Candidates will have the following:

  • Outstanding customer service and relationship building skills
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Experience working with children between 12 years and 15 years of age is a PLUS
  • College credits in early childhood education, child development, elementary education or a related field is preferred not required
  • Ability to lift 40lbs
  • Drive to inspire a love for learning and commitment to healthy living
  • Ability to meet state-specific requirements; LIVE Scan Fingerprint, Mandated Reporter training, Health Certificate/ Cleared TB, CPR/FA
