Local Western Nassau areaThe Bus Driver is responsible for following pre-arranged routes to pick up and drop off children to the Early Childhood program. This position provide safe on time transportation for children.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Perform a pre-trip check inspections for the safety of passengers and vehicle• Report any issues to the Transportation Coordinator• Determine the safest and most practical driving route for the assigned route• Comply with all traffic and safety rules and follow a specific timetable for pickups• Stop at designed spots and ensure safe onboarding and/or off boarding of children• Communicate any parent concerns to the Director of Early Childhood• Partner with Bus Monitor to ensure the safety of passengers• Complete and submit required forms and records in a timely and professional manner• Follow SJJCC and insurance company protocols on a daily basis• Notify supervisor immediately when an accident occurs involving a SJJCC vehicle and complete any paperwork• Notify supervisor if any repairs are needed• With the assistance of Bus Aides, ensures all children are in age appropriate child safety restraints at all times during transportation• Assists with ensuring child/staff ratios are maintained on the bus and provides day-to-day guidance to the Bus Aides• Ensures that the bus always has sufficient fuel• Follows procedures to guarantee no child is left alone on bus without adult supervision at any time, including insuring all children have departed bus at the end of all bus routes (morning, evening and during field trips or other special trips)• Attends and participates in center pre-service and in-service trainings, and other continuing education, career and professional development opportunities• All other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- CDL License
- P&S preferred but not requires
- Clean DMV driving record
- Knowledge of Western Long Island area
