The work is performed under the supervision and direction of an assigned supervisor, but some leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgement and initiative. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with assigned supervisors, other town employees, and the general public. The principal duties of this class are performed in an outdoors environment with possible exposure to a variety of terrains and weather conditions.This part-time position will consist of up to 19 hours per week, which may include weekend hours. Examples of Duties
- Maintains athletics cricket facilities including, but not limited to the professional cricket grounds and pitches at Church Street Park. Works under the supervision of the Athletics Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
- Works together with Athletics Facilities Maintenance Technician to prepare cricket grounds and pitches for matches/events held at Church Street Park.
- Works before, during, and after cricket related matches as needed to ensure a high degree of safety and playability on cricket grounds and pitches.
- Maintains and operates relevant cricket equipment such as asphalt rollers, reel mowers, weed eaters, push mowers, and various hand tools.
- Assists with fertilizer, pesticide, herbicide applications under the field supervision of the on-site Athletics Facilities Maintenance Technician.
- Assists in cricket related turf and pitch renovations while coordinating with other members of the Athletics Facilities Maintenance Division.
- Assists in repairs and maintenance of irrigation systems at Church Street Park.
- Maintains park facilities and amenities including picnic shelters, playgrounds, trashcans, and other facilities as required.
- May be asked to work a flexible schedule. Work Scheduling may require work before, during, and after cricket related events on weekdays and weekends. Cricket related events may extend over the course of multiple days.
- Communicates and coordinates with Athletics Facilities Maintenance Technician as well as Athletics Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. Reports on progress of tasks, ground conditions, and any other observations that might affect cricket playability/safety.
- Communicates with Town of Morrisville citizens and other employees in a respectful and courteous manner. Passes on cricket related inquiries to on-site Athletics Facilities Maintenance Technician or Athletics Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
- Observes safe work methods and makes appropriate use of safety Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
- Ability to work outside for long periods of time in various weather conditions.
- Some knowledge of the safe and proper use of basic hand tools.
- Ability to lift in excess of 80 pounds with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Some knowledge of basic safety principles and practices of maintenance activities.
- Some knowledge of principles and practices of customer service.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with assigned supervisors, other town employees, and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language.
Supplemental Information
- Possession of a valid NC Driver's License, and a safe driving record.
- Ability to attend work on a regular, predictable basis as scheduled.
