Salary: $15.75 - $20.21 HourlyLocation : Jacksonville, NCJob Type: Part-TimeJob Number: 426000131 May 2024Department: Asset & Facility Management (AFM)Opening Date: 05/28/2024Job Description This part time position performs semiskilled work assisting with the cleaning, maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Lead Housekeeper or Housekeeping Supervisor.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.   • Provides minor maintenance for County buildings and facilities.
  • Washes windows, walls, floors and bathroom fixtures; strips, waxes and buffs floors; dusts, vacuums, sweeps and mops floors; dusts and cleans blinds.
  • Performs rug and carpet cleaning.
  • Disposes of refuse, litter and trash.
  • Helps set up building and rooms for activities and special events.
  • Performs routine building and facilities inspection and security checks.
  • Performs minor repairs on equipment, furniture and fixtures; changes light bulbs, sanitizes kitchens, bathrooms and entrances to buildings.
  • Performs errands in the form of delivering furniture and ordering and picking up supplies.
  • Performs assigned functions as a Disaster Ready Team (DRT) member, if appointed or volunteer.
  • Performs related tasks as required.
Physical RequirementsThis work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and repetitive motions, frequentlyrequires climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and lifting and occasionally requires sitting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailedinformation through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to vibration and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working in high, precarious places, exposure to the risk of electrical shock and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic). Qualifications General knowledge of a variety of maintenance and manual tasks involved in building cleaning and minor maintenance work; general knowledge in the use of common cleaning and maintenance tools; general knowledge of the safe use and operation of tools and equipment; ability to perform manual labor; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
