The Department of Parks & Recreation is looking for a customer-oriented person interested in being a positive influence in the community. The ideal candidate is available to work afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends and enjoys greeting and assisting people of different ages, backgrounds, and cultures. This position provides a skilled level variety of administrative and customer service tasks that may include word processing, processing class registrations and transfers, POS, class cancelations, credits and refunds, collecting forms and fees for reservations and rentals; providing program and activity information to customers. Work is performed under the direction of the Community Center Supervisor, or designee. Additional guidance and direction are received through established policies and procedures and the department standard operating procedures.Work Schedule:Hours may vary: Monday - Sunday 10 to 20 hours per week All new employees must satisfactorily complete a background check. A conditional offer of employment may then be made contingent upon the successful completion of a drug test. This is a non-exempt position. Duties and ResponsibilitiesTypical Tasks:
- Greets customers, visitors, and community members in a friendly and enthusiastic manner.
- Provides information to patrons on programs, classes, fees, special events, and hours of operation; answers inquiries; and assists customers in resolving complaints or concerns.
- Accepts registrations for classes, programs and activities; ensures accurate information on registration forms.
- Helps troubleshoot and resolve registration problems.
- Follow procedures to Operate a point of sale; accept and process payments; balance receipts daily; reconcile cash, checks, and credit card receipts. Reports discrepancies as needed.
- Responsible for cash drawer transactions, management of funs at start of and end of shift.
- Answer incoming calls and direct inquiries to appropriate team members; assists general public as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized front-desk and immediate area.
- Administer the lost-and-found policy by logging, storing and returning any items.
- Assist the programming team by managing wait list calls, special event preparation, and other tasks.
- Processes and applies credits to online account households.
- Assist customers with rental requests
- Assist in emergency situations, writes and reviews incident reports and communicates with Manager on Duty.
- Assist staff in quarterly meetings
- Proofread important documents
Additional Duties:Assists with special projects and or programs.Maintains positive relations with co-workers and the customers.Performs related work as assigned or necessary.Works town events and helps with supplies. Minimum Training and ExperienceRequires High School graduation or GED.Customer service experience and knowledge of standard office practices and equipment, including competency in the use of computer software.Preferred Experience: Specialized courses or training equivalent to completion of one year of college in Business, Office Support, Recreation Management or a closely related area.
