2024 Saline CountyPart-time Deputy CollectorJob DescriptionExempt: NoDepartment: CollectorReports To: Benton Office ManagerLocation: Benton Office, 215 N Main Benton, ARSafety Sensitive: NoGENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONThis employee performs such duties as collection of taxes, responsibility for a cash drawer, including processing payments and balancing collected funds as required. He/she answers the phone when needed, assisting taxpayers with questions or problems, performs first contact in person with taxpayer. Must have an out-going personality, positive attitude and great customer service skills. Research will be a major component of this job. Must work overtime in March and October each year.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collection of county taxes (cash handling) including balancing a cash drawer as required. This duty is performed daily.
  • Assisting taxpayers (Customer Service Skills) with tax needs, both on the phone and in person applying payments to the correct accounts. This duty is performed daily.
  • Processes postal mail. This duty is performed daily.
  • Process credit card payments. This duty is performed daily.
  • Annual Statement Preparation. This duty is performed annually.
  • Bryant office relief as needed. This duty is performed as needed.
  • Backup MO tracking. This duty is performed as needed.
  • Backup safety meetings. This duty is performed as needed.
  • Return mail research; using WinCollect, CAMA, INA, People finders and court records. This duty is performed as needed.
  • E-mail bounce research. This duty is performed as needed.
  • Electronic Change of address, emails and phones. This duty is performed as needed.
  • Determining whether a taxpayer should receive clearance for tags. This duty is performed daily.
  • Electronic receipt notification. This duty is performed daily.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEKnowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 19 to 23 months related experience and/or training, and 1 to 6 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSCertification in Microsoft Suite, High School Diploma, Two years technical college, Two years related work experience, Two years Cash handling experienceWORKING CONDITIONSNormal working conditions as found within an office setting, wherein there is controlled temperature and a low noise level, plus a minimum of distractions.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONSThe following work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing essential functions of this job. ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONThis position involves some use of sign language to communicate with taxpayers. The hours maybe extended due to work-in-progress or workload, especially during March and October of each year.Needs to have the following: cashing handling proficiency, ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in written form, expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and working as a team.
