Salary: $16.00 - $23.00 HourlyLocation : Government Center - Plainfield, INJob Type: PART-TIMEJob Number: 1017Department: ADMINISTRATIONDivision: Risk ManagementOpening Date: 07/19/2024Closing Date: 11/21/2024 11:59 PM EasternGENERAL PURPOSE The Part-Time Civic Center Facility Maintenance Operator is responsible for assisting with the preventative maintenance, cleaning and repair of the grounds, buildings, parking structure and the parking structure at the Civic Center and Government Center Campus. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Duties include, but are not limited to:Performs routine daily inspection and preventative maintenance duties at Civic Center, Government Center, and Parking Structure buildings and reports needed repairs and/or replacement to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor.Monitors building operations, rotating regular shift assignments including evenings and weekends.Assists with the maintenance of the Civic Center grounds by mowing the grass, weed eating, planting flowers, trees and bushes, and trimming trees and bushes, and snow removal as needed.Performs room set up and cleaning duties in all building facilities to include restrooms, conference rooms, offices, kitchen, etc. as needed.Performs administrative duties to include inspections, maintaining records relating to repairs, replacements, and maintenance-related activities.Assists Facility Maintenance Supervisor with the ordering and purchasing of supplies.Responds to complaints regarding damaged property on the grounds or in the facility and reports findings to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor.Conducts general and basic janitorial functions and duties routinely.Maintains regular communication with the Facility Maintenance Supervisor.Attends meetings, as assigned. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience working in a maintenance job performing semi-skilled to skilled maintenance work is required. NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The following skills and abilities are either required or desired.Computer software skills required include: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.The ability to make sound and rational decisions including exercising independent judgment, within specified parameters is required.A working knowledge of the maintenance and repair of light equipment is required.A working knowledge of landscaping and annual and perennial flowers and trees that are on the grounds is required.The ability to use and learn several types of technology to include irrigation systems, and scheduling software for facilities maintenance is required.A working knowledge of HVAC systems, water heaters, and general electrical and plumbing functions within the facility and facility-related equipment is required.The ability to be able to get in and out of the air handlers and to use hands to work on the controller and the variable air volume (VAV) boxes is required.The ability to operate motorized vehicles and equipment to include: pick-up truck, utility truck, pumps, tractors, riding and walking lawn mowers, weed eaters, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, ditch witch, snow removal equipment, salting equipment, and mobile radio is required.The ability to enforce rules and follow all established protocols and guidelines is required.The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public is required.The ability to remain current with all required licenses, certifications and in-service requirements is required.First Aid, AED, and CPR certifications are desired.The ability to operate a computer, printer, copy machine, scanner, fax machine, and other office equipment is required.The ability to speak, read and write in English is required.
