Summary of PositionTeachesYSU1500: Success Seminar. Provides a range of direct student support services including instruction, programs, academic advising, intervention, and personal support to a caseload of first-year students each year in both the fall and spring semesters.Excellent interpersonal skills and a student-first attitude; ability to work independently, collaboratively, and cooperatively as a team member; strong attention to detail; strong time management skills that ensure the ability to manage a caseload of advisees.Position InformationPlans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students promptly. YSU's culture of enrichment flourishes in our diverse, accessible, and quality education.Qualifications and CompetenciesMinimum Qualifications:At least aMaster's degree from an accredited college or university, or currently enrolled in a Master's degree program in any field and one year of experience in a student services role on a college or university campus; or at least an earned bachelor's degree and at least five years of experience as an academic advisor, academic support professional, or related activity in lieu of the master's degree. Mustbe currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs or related field; experience working with programs focused on developing grit, growth mindset, mental resilience, or other persistence based interventions; direct experience with students in transition; experience using Banner Student Information System; proficiency with Microsoft Office suite; ability to use different avenues of communication.
