The School of Fashion at Parsons, The New School, is seeking Part-Time Faculty to teach in our AAS Fashion Design program:

Industry Communication:

Industry Communication emphasizes the use of CLO 3D software to bridge concept, design and production communication in the fashion industry. Students will develop compelling design presentations that reflect their unique identities, learning to realize fashion designs in digital 3D. Through CLO 3D, students will explore virtual pattern making, materiality, surface design, construction, and trim and design details. In-depth demonstrations, project reviews, and discussions will guide students in creatively presenting fashion concepts using digital tools aligned with modern global fashion practices. Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, will be used for flats, specifications, branding, and lookbook creation.

Studio Hourly Rate: $120/contact hr

Seminar Hourly Rate: $146/contact hr

Minimum Qualifications:

Specific Qualifications for Industry Communication:

* A degree in fashion design or equivalent professional experience.

* Proficiency in CLO 3D Software: Demonstrated expertise in CLO 3D, including advanced knowledge of garment construction, material simulation, pattern manipulation, and rendering techniques within the software.

* Fashion Design Experience: Practical experience in fashion design or garment construction to provide context for digital processes and ensure realistic garment outcomes that align with industry standards.

* Digital Visualization Skills: Skilled in digital visualization techniques, including 3D rendering, pattern drafting, and fabric simulation, with the ability to convey how these elements influence design presentation and communication.

* Technical Understanding of Garment Specifications: Familiarity with garment specifications and technical details, such as measurement points, and construction techniques, to ensure students produce accurate, production-ready designs.

* Cross-Platform Knowledge: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign) or similar design software, to integrate CLO 3D work seamlessly with other digital design workflows, like flats, specs, and lookbooks.

* Ability to adhere to University COVID-19 Policy and requirements.
