JOB SUMMARY: The Federal Work Study (FWS) program is a federal student aid program that provides part-time employment while the student is enrolled in school to help pay his or her education expenses. The student must seek out and apply for work-study jobs at his or her school. The student will be paid directly for the hours he or she works and the amount he or she earns cannot exceed the total amount awarded by the school for the award year. The availability of work-study jobs varies by school. The amount you earn can't exceed your total Federal Work-Study award. When assigning work hours, the financial aid office will consider your class schedule, academic progress, and federal work study award amount to determine the maximum hours of work. This job posting is for enrolled students in the school's Professional Division that have been awarded Federal Work Study. There are typically opportunities with the following departments: The Ailey School Costume Shop Public Relations Development Marketing Arts in Education Studio Operations Physical Therapy Services. Please note that student workers at The Ailey School typically work 6-10 hours due to the constraints of the rigorous schedule.Job Descriptions:

  • Studio Operations:
    • Support Studio Ops with: - classroom and studio setups and functionality - delivering requested equipment to studios and classroom - assist Technical Director with theater changeovers - posting signage - calendar upkeep
    • Support Office Manager with: - maintaining supplies in workrooms - assist with shipping and postage projects when needed
  • Physical Therapy Services

Our Physical Therapy Department plays a crucial role in ensuring our students and professionals stay in top shape. We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Physical Therapy Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in a vibrant and collaborative environment.
    • Role Overview:
      • As a Physical Therapy Intern, you will have the unique opportunity to work closely with our experienced physical therapists, observe treatments, and contribute to critical research and organizational tasks. Your role will be pivotal in supporting our team and gaining invaluable insights into the intersection of physical therapy and dance.
    • Key Responsibilities:
      • Data Management: - Gather, organize, and enter data related to physical therapy treatments, exercise prescriptions, and research projects. - Assist in analyzing data to support ongoing research and improve treatment protocols.
      • Research Support: - Contribute to research projects by collecting and analyzing data - Prepare reports and presentations based on research findings.
      • Clinical Observation: - Observe physical therapy treatments and exercise prescriptions to understand best practices and techniques. - Gain insight into patient assessment, treatment planning, and outcome evaluation.
      • Inventory and Organization: - Assist with managing and organizing physical therapy supplies. - Maintain inventory records and ensure that equipment and supplies are well-stocked and in good condition.

  • Development:

      • Assist in generating, printing, and mailing gift acknowledgments and solicitation materials.
      • Assist in varied pre-event planning tasks as assigned.
      • Attend fundraising events assisting with registration/check-in and greeting donors.
      • Conduct general research for donors and prospects.
      • Run errands as necessary and perform ad hoc duties.
  • Individual Giving:
The Individual Giving Seasonal Assistant is a dynamic, organized, and personable team player. Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts & Individual Giving, the Assistant will work to support the individual giving fundraising portfolio and goals. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated and energetic individual with strong organizational skills and an interest in individual giving.
    • Responsibilities:
      • Assist in generating, printing, and mailing solicitation materials and ticket-related benefit fulfillment packages.
      • Identify donor prospects from ticket buyer lists, name collections, and other sources.
      • Work with Individual Giving Manager and Individual Giving Assistant to compile prospect lists.
      • Research and prepare profiles for prospects.
      • Email and phone outreach with donors as needed.
      • Update and maintain constituent records in Salesforce.
      • Assist Individual Giving and Special Events in preparing for cultivation and stewardship events.
    • Minimum Qualifications:
      • Strong internet-based research skills
      • Ability to manage multiple projects and work within a dynamic work environment
      • Microsoft Office proficiency
      • Experience with Salesforce CRM preferred
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills
      • Ability to interact with high level donors/patrons
    • Experience/Education:
      • Student earning BFA from the Ailey/Fordham BFA program preferred
      • Performing arts/dance background a plus
  • Public Relations Student Worker
The Public Relations department is looking for a motivated, responsible, and personable student worker to support ongoing public relations initiatives. The Public Relations Student Worker will assist the team responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of publicity campaigns for the AILEY organization. The candidate will report to the Associate Director of Public Relations.
    • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
      • Scan/store press clippings in media coverage archive binders as noted
      • Assist with research and compiling information for press materials
      • Update Cision media lists (email corrections, add/removal of names, etc.)
      • Assist press ticketing associate with various tasks including compiling digital packet for press ticket confirmations, developing templates, and preparing New York City Center binder
      • Prepare items for Opening Night Gala red carpet (media outlet placement cards, lookbooks, name cards, etc.)
      • Provide general administrative support as assigned
  • Costume Shop
The Ailey School Costume Shop is looking for an individual to help with wardrobe needs throughout the year.
    • Tasks will include:
      • Helping hang, label, organize, restock, refresh costumes
      • Stain removal.
      • Laundry Duty, costumes will need to be taken to launder offsite.
      • Helping move racks & other items throughout the building.
      • Learn and execute steaming, pressing, and hand finishing, as well as basic repairs and alterations on a sewing machine.
