If you're looking for a flexible schedule and the opportunity to work with kids, this is your dream come true. Snapology of Westwood covers towns of Westwood, Canton, Dedham, Norwood, Newton, and Wellesley. You will be helping us promote creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while educating students on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math) concepts. Programs are conducted for children ages 2-14, although not all instructors are required to teach all age groups. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism. Weekday classes are usually between 2-5pm, and weekend events can be from 10-6. We can work with your schedule to assign classes.Key Responsibilities:Lead groups of up to 24 students through curriculum-guided activitiesInstruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipmentManage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and proceduresMaintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of SnapologyEncourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategiesAdequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessionsHandle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programsEncourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programsParticipate in periodic Snapology training & staff meetings, round tables as required.Qualifications:Pass Criminal and Child Clearances (Background checks and Livescan fingerprinting per school district)Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis2 or more years of experience working with children in a classroom or camp environmentEducation degree or teaching experience recommended; teachers pursuing a degree in education will also be considered for this positionAbility to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with othersAbility to communicate effectively orally and in writingCore Strengths and Skills:Reliable: Dependability is crucial.
