Job Purpose: To keep the facility clean, sanitary, and well maintained in keeping with federal, state, and local health code regulations. Housekeepers are responsible for the upkeep and cleaning of the facility with emphasis on infection prevention, orderliness and neatness of the environment. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean environment based on infection prevention and orderliness
- Linens: On a daily basis, the Nursing Home utilizes a large quantity of linens such as bedding, gowns and the residents personal clothing. Housekeepers back up and assist Nurse Aides with gathering soiled linens.
- Locations: Housekeepers are responsible for maintaining the appearance and sanitation of all areas in the Nursing Home, including bedrooms, clean and dirty utility rooms, foyer, social areas, dining rooms, staff lounge, and Assisted Living.
- Patient Rooms: In areas where residents stay, housekeepers are responsible for supplying fresh linens and keeping the bathrooms, floors and other surfaces clean and sanitary. When a resident is discharged or moves to another room, it falls upon housekeepers to disinfect the rooms with specialized cleaning agents meant to kill germs and prevent the spread of disease and illness.
- Garbage and Waste: Housekeepers empty waste containers, receptacles and trash from all areas of the Nursing Home. Once it is collected, housekeepers are responsible for disposing of trash, and medical waste according to policies and procedures.
- Assure resident safety.
- Good communication skills, and the ability to follow guidelines and procedures.
- Must have the ability to physically operate various cleaning equipment and perform procedures necessary to prevent infection, and maintain a clean, orderly environment.
