RDI conducts testing and simplifies the clinical trial process for clients while recruiting, educating, and training independent physicians to participate in IVD studies. As one of the only IVD-focused research labs, RDI uniquely combines sample collection and instrument validation capabilities with a specialized national network of CLIA labs and physicians.
RDI is searching for a talented individual contributor who will drive improvements across all aspects of clinical trials. The role of the Lab Assistant is to support the clinical laboratory and be responsible for the kit creation, processing, and tracking of samples in support of our research studies.
What you'll do
- Receive and process samples, identify suitability for use, store and prepare shipments
- Pick-up or arrange for a courier to ensure samples arrive in a timely manner
- Prepare specimen aliquots as per protocol definition including serum, plasma, urine, feces, and other biofluids depending on study protocol
- Receive, verify, log and track specimens upon arrival
- Label specimen aliquots accurately and distribute them via courier to the appropriate client
- Prepare and maintain accurate laboratory records
- Assist in maintaining specimen logs, submission records, specimen storage logs and calculations
- Manage various projects such as storage SOPs
- General laboratory & research support
- Assist project managers in preparing sites for collection including kit assembly, shipping, and study binder preparation
- Prepare samples for testing using various types of laboratory equipment (e.g. pipettes, scales, etc.)
- Clean and maintain work area and all lab equipment and supplies
- Perform quality control as directed by the Laboratory Manager

- An entry-level background in the medical laboratory field
- Can communicate effectively with clients and peers
- Work well under minimal supervision
- Knowledge of computer programs
- Ability to search the internet for applicable information
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Google Office Suite (Google Docs and Sheets)
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to keep patient confidentiality as required by HIPPA
- Work in the office on a computer for long hours
- Some local travel to doctor offices in Los Angeles
- Have great computer skills
