CLASS SUMMARY:The Laborer reports to the Airport Manager and is responsible for providing service to airport customers and completing line technician duties. This position is responsible for keeping the Airport Manager up to date on activities, airport customer needs including but not limited to maintenance needs of the airport buildings and property. Supports the operations of the airport in all seasons and weather conditions.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.Complete general maintenance needs such as lubing hangar doors, replacing runway lights, and assist with general maintenance items.Monitor runway, environmental, and weather conditions as applicable to air traffic and piloting needs.Complete Airfield, Facilities, Fuel Farm, and Equipment inspections as assigned.Assist with general cleaning of airfield, building, and customer areas including restrooms.Dispense and/or supervise the dispensing of fuel.Greet, park, tow, move, and marshal aircraft arriving or departing ramp area.Assist with wing-walking duties as required.Monitor airport air-to-ground radio and answer phone calls.Assist transient and local customers with hangar or tie-down parking arrangements.Able to operate with minimal supervision.Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:High School Diploma or GED and one year of related work experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:Valid Driver's LicenseMaintains Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance.Will obtain NATA Safety 1st Certification within 30 days of hire.KNOWLEDGE OF:Personal protective equipment.Working around aircraft and an airport environment.Working in extreme temperatures.SKILL IN:Clearly and effectively communicating both orally and in writing; Use of a variety of computer-based technologies including word processing, graphs and spreadsheets;Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Positions in this class typically require: balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
