Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a part-time Laundry Worker within our EVS Department. This position is responsible for performing a variety of environmental service activities, as assigned, to keep the building operating as cleanly, efficiently, and effectively as possible. Duties include, but are not limited to, housekeeping/facility cleaning activities and laundry/linen duties in order to provide a sanitary and aseptic environment for patients, visitors, and hospital staff.Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is a 45-bed hospital that serves rural and suburban populations in Roaring Spring, Altoona, and parts of Blair, Bedford, and Huntingdon counties. Conemaugh Health System serves more than a half-million patients each year through the Nason Physician Group, Conemaugh Physician Group and Medical Staff, a network of four hospitals, specialty clinics and patient-focused programs.Essential Functions:Performs laundry duties according to established policy and procedures evidence by annual competency assessment and frequent supervision.Performs daily cleaning routines and assembles necessary cleaning supplies and equipment.Always wear PPE Personal Protective Equipment: Gowns and gloves while handling soiled linen. Wears goggles and masks as needed.Uses supplies efficiently and with regard to both effectiveness and cost. Reports lack of supplies, faulty equipment, etc. to Director of E.S. immediately.Doodle dust, wet mop floors as assigned daily.Sorts overnight linens as per policy and procedure and sorts soiled linens to appropriate soiled carts for washing.Loads washers using ECHOLAB system as per instructions and training and assures appropriate environment of water temperature.Washes laundry carts with hospital wide germicidal solution from premeasure J-Fill dispenser.Safely operates and cleans laundry equipment.Scrubs laundry floor as per cleaning frequency schedule.Cleans and turns dryers on per manufacturer instructions and dries linen according to applicable item and per policy/procedure.Separates linen to be mended from other linens. Separates linens according to departments.Checks linens to ensure quality/cleanliness daily. All linens are dried and folded properly.Loads and covers all linens being transported and delivers linens according to proper count.Safely turns off dryers, cleans dryer screens daily and removes lint from back of dryer.Demonstrates understanding of and utilizes detergents, disinfectants as per label instructions.Handles isolation bags/linens with no deviations from Infection Control Policies/Procedures.Promotes a safe environment using Wet Signs.Non-Essential Functions:Demonstrates flexibility in responses to unexpected changes in workload, emergencies, staffing and scheduling changes.Completes ICES/Maintenance Order form as necessary.No evidence of abuse or unsafe use of cleaning chemicals, supplies, or equipment.Performs other duties as directed.Organizational Expectations: **Demonstrates support of the mission, vision values, goals, and general policies of Nason Medical Center.Demonstrates understanding of Hospital Infection Control procedures and utilizes appropriate hand washing and standard precautions.Observes the policies of the hospital by maintaining a clean and safe work environment and performing work safely at all times with no deviation from safety policies.Adheres to Corporate Compliance Guidelines and requirements of Federal, State, and local regulatory and accrediting agencies with no deviation from standards.Attends mandatory annual in-services with no deviation from departmental time frames.Attends departmental meetings/in-services, and Life Talent as scheduled with no unexcused absences.Participates in continuing education programs as per job classification requirements.Respect the cultural and diversity, rights, privacy needs of the patients, employees, and all whom we come in contact with no deviation of hospital policy.Presents a professional image by appearance, articulation, and behavior; adheres to hospital and departmental dress codes, including wearing the Nason ID badge, with no pattern of deviation.Gives evidence of dependability by: Infrequent and appropriate use of sick time (4 or more non FMLA instances will constitute a “not met” and require a verbal warning).Completed all assignments in a reasonable time frame per established policies.Maintains punctuality and gives one hour notice for unscheduled absences.Promotes appropriate customer service skills by being helpful, courteous, considerate, sensitive, and compassionate to the needs of staff, patients, physicians, and visitors with whom we come in contact with during the workday.Recognizes own limitations and seeks help from appropriate sources when needed.Adheres to standards of professional ethics and maintains confidentiality regarding all patient and all privileged work information with no documented deviation from standards.Demonstrates understanding of emergency and disaster plans as evidence by appropriate response to drills and actual situations.Job Requirements: * * Education: High School Graduate or Graduate Equivalency Diploma.
