Description The essential function of the position within the organization is to maintain City facilities and grounds. The position is responsible for assigned tasks. The position works under general supervision according to some procedures; and decides how and when to complete tasks. *This position schedule is Friday-Sunday 7:00 AM- 3:30 PM. Summary of Duties Maintains grounds and/or parks, including mowing/trimming, weeding, planting trees, shrubs, and plants, removing trees, watering flower baskets and planters, and picking up trash and debris. Performs maintenance and minor repairs on facilities and grounds, such as painting, minor electrical and plumbing repairs, or carpentry tasks; repairs and assembles furniture; reports repair needs outside the scope of position to supervisor. Cleans inside and/or outside of City buildings, including sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors, vacuuming, and shampooing carpets, cleaning surfaces and baseboards, polishing glass, furniture, and woodwork, and emptying and cleaning garbage receptacles. Cleans and disinfects restrooms and fixtures; replenishes paper towels, toilet paper, and soap; unclog toilets and replaces burned-out light bulbs as needed. Performs maintenance and minor repairs on facilities, such as repairs and assemble furniture, and reports repair needs outside the scope of position to supervisor. Maintains equipment of responsibility; assists with maintenance of inventory of supplies. Minimum Qualifications Requires high school diploma, GED, or specialized vocational training. Requires valid Tennessee Driver's License. Requires three months of related experience. Requires light to medium work involving standing or walking most of the time, exerting up to 50 pounds of force regularly.
