Ozarka College Adult Education seeks applicants for a grant funded, part-time Paraprofessional/Backup GED® Examiner for the Adult Education program. The position requires working with adult education participants by assisting with the new student intake and orientation, maintaining student files, and all required documentation according to Arkansas Adult Education guidelines. The Paraprofessional, acting under the direction of the Director of Adult Education, is responsible for providing current and prospective students with quality support services to help them obtain their education goals. This position requires attention to detail, high energy, and willingness to accept responsibility. This is a part time position requiring a flexible schedule Monday thru Friday. Duties will include routine secretarial work, answering phone calls and providing information to students about our program, entering student information into a data management system, and conducting TABE and GED® testing sessions. The position is located at our Mountain View Campus. Hours may vary Monday through Friday with possible GED testing on Saturday and evenings during the week. Please note, position continuation will be contingent upon renewed grant funding each fiscal year.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides paraprofessional support for the Mountain View Adult Education Program to both students and faculty.
- Administers the TABE assessment and GED® test following all state and federal policies and procedures, maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of the assessment. (GED® Proctor Certification must be obtained after hire)
- Enters student information into LACES data management system, creates student accounts for distance learning, and creates testing tickets for TABE assessments.
- Maintains accurate records and keeps all tests and student records locked up in a secure location.
- Works with the Director of Adult Education program in scheduling assessments, providing a flexible schedule and accommodations for persons with documented disabilities.
- Creates an atmosphere that promotes a positive relationship between the student, instructor, and the center.
- Works toward reaching program federal core indicators, state, and local goals.
- Attends workshops, training, and professional development required by the state office.
- Represents Ozarka College in a positive manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education equivalent of a high school diploma plus 1 year of clerical experience.
- Computer skills in basic office software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and use good organizational skills to take initiative and coordinate daily workload.
- Proven interpersonal skills both written and verbal to promote understanding, respect for others, and clear articulation of the college mission.
- Commitment to personal integrity in all working relationships with others.
