Salary: $18.86 Hourly Location : OH 43082, OH Job Type: Part-time Job Number: 01185 Department: PARKS & RECREATION Division: PARKS MAINTENANCE Opening Date: 01/10/2025 Description This is a responsible, semi-skilled position performing a wide variety of maintenance duties involving park maintenance, grounds maintenance and equipment operations. Part-Time Park Specialists work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions. SUPERVISION Work is performed under the general direction of the Parks Manager. Position may serve as crew leader and/or lead worker as directed by supervisory staff. Work is inspected and reviewed through written performance evaluations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK
- Performs a variety of landscaping maintenance work on park and city grounds including pruning, weeding, mulching, deadheading and edging, removing trash, painting, chemical application, snow and ice removal, trimming, pruning trees and shrubs, mowing, aeration and seeding of turf areas and light construction.
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and shelters, cleans and moves materials and supplies and cleans equipment.
- Operates a wide range of vehicles, equipment and power tools to perform daily tasks.
- Completes necessary paperwork related to chemical applications and SDS sheets.
- Provides and fulfills staffing needs responding to absentee coverage as needed.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with citizens, vendors, city and departmental staff is needed.
- Ability to work within all standard safety practices associated with the trade in order to maintain a safe working environment.
- Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF WORK
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Possession at the time of appointment of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Three or more years of work related experience in the area of specialization needed to perform the work, preferred.
- Demonstrated, self- motivated and independent worker is preferred.
- Possession of valid Ohio driver's license.
- Red Cross CPR and First Aid preferreds.
