Part-Time Physical Therapist (PT) at Rebecca School North 1 Bradford Rd Mount Vernon, NY 10553 Join Rebecca Schools, a network of private therapeutic day schools serving children ages 3 to 21 with neurodevelopmental delays, including autism spectrum disorders. Founded in 2006, we use the DIRFloortime® model to foster communication, social interaction, and personal growth. Our skilled educators and therapists collaborate in thoughtfully designed sensory gyms, art studios, and bright classrooms, creating a nurturing environment where students thrive. What we offer:Compensation: $70 to $85 per hour, depending on education and experience. Flexible Schedule: Adaptable work schedule aligned with the school division calendar. Job Responsibilities:
  • Deliver physical therapy services to students with special needs
  • Administer pediatric physical therapy assessments to determine a student's level of function in such areas as fine/gross motor skill development, sensory motor integration, self-care and activities of daily living
  • Prepare written assessment and reports identifying the student's needs and proposed treatment strategies, goals and objectives; maintain progress records
  • Provide students with individual treatment and group therapy sessions to correct specific areas of sensory motor integrative dysfunction and social/emotional issues
  • Educate team members on facilitation of implemented techniques or modalities (brushing, deep pressure, vibration, oral motor, feeding, HWT, etc.)
  • Monitor therapy and educational staff trained to incorporate appropriate physical therapy treatment strategies into instruction; evaluate effectiveness of the established program and make modifications within the PT framework of the DIR model
  • Collaborate and coordinate physical therapy goals with instruction; communicate with parents or guardians through conferences and other means to discuss student progress
  • Maintain professional competence by attending staff development programs and continuing education programs
  • Participate in weekly Greenspan meetings, team meetings and staff training
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • License to practice Physical Therapy in NYS
  • State Certification
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with students, staff and parents
Preferred/Nice to have:
  • Knowledge of DIRFloortime
