Modeled after the City Beautiful-planned community movement, the Mediterranean Revival style building is a historic landmark, and the City's first public building and golf course. Built in 1922, the club is part of the original 1921 city plan developed by Coral Gables' founder and visionary George Merrick and is the namesake for the neighboring historic district which is comprised of the country club, the golf course, and 84 private residences.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Part-Time Recreation Program Assistant will be assigned to the Coral Gables Country Club. This part-time position is responsible for assisting the Recreation Specialist in coordinating and implementing a variety of recreation activities, athletic programming, provide information on recreation events and activities and assist in the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility of assignment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in person and over the telephone.
  • Interact and communicate efficiently with vendors, city personal and patrons and parents.
  • Assist the Special Project Coordinator with programming of events and games.
  • Research ideas; prepare supplies and equipment for programs.
  • Prepare site, equipment and/or materials for recreational activities and special events.
  • Observe, enforce and comply with all policies, rules, regulations, laws and ordinances of the facility, the department and the City of Coral Gables.
  • Maintain order and discipline of facility patrons and ensure that all safety precautions are observed and followed.
  • Maintain supply and equipment inventory control. Issue, receive and oversee the use and care of recreation and/or facility supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, park and equipment.
  • Administer basic first aid as required and prepare and complete required paperwork related to first aid. Attend all staff meetings, trainings and other functions as require by Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsMinimum age of 17 years with High School diploma or equivalent.Previous experience with a recreation facility is required.Previous experience with instructing Athletic programs is required.Certification in an approved first aid & CPR course, preferred. Leave is accrued but not able to use during first 90 days of employment. SICK LEAVE: 4 days per year. Employees may convert to annual leave 15 hours if more than 2 days have been accrued and unused during the fiscal year. HOLIDAYS: 12 holidays (If scheduled to work, plus 1 floating day). BEREAVEMENT: 3 Days for the death of an immediate family member (Parent, spouse, or child) and 2 days for any other immediate family member.ADMINISTRATIVE SICK LEAVE: Employees who have not used sick leave, leave without pay, or have not lost time due to an on-the-job injury in a 6 month period are entitled to 1 day of administrative leave. CASH PAY OUT OF VACATION: Employees may request payment of accrued/earned annual leave not to exceed 15 hours at the rate of pay in effect at the time of the request, provided such request is made no later than September 30, 2015 (or as amended every fiscal year).MILITARY LEAVE: 30 work days every year with pay and the remainder of the period shall be without pay, unless otherwise provided by City Commission. JURY DUTY: Time off with pay if scheduled to work.PART-TIME (25 -29 Hours)ANNUAL LEAVE: 8 days per year (1 day is equivalent to 5.80 hours). Leave is accrued but not able to use during first 90 days of employment. SICK LEAVE: 8 days per year. Employees may convert to annual leave 30 hours if more than 4 days have been accrued and unused during the fiscal year.
