Yedidya Academy at ICCJ is actively seeking a dynamic leader to play a pivotal role in the ongoing development and expansion of our religious school. This is a part-time position with in-person responsibilities from 8:45 AM to 12:45 PM on Sunday mornings.
Core Responsibilities:
Staffing and Supervision
- Supervise and schedule staff. Provide recommendations for hiring to the school board.
- Provide orientation, training, and ongoing support for teachers.
- Evaluate teacher performance and offer constructive feedback.
Curriculum and Program Management
- Facilitate curriculum development and revisions.
- Liaise between the school and other synagogue committees and programs.
- Oversee classroom communications, including a weekly family update, a bimonthly article in the ICCJ newsletter, as well as student progress reports.
Operations and Logistics
- Create and manage the school's master calendar and class lists.
- Coordinate technology, equipment, materials, and space usage.
- Monitor attendance and handle discipline issues.
Communication and Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with students, teachers, families, and lay leaders.
- Write weekly announcements and handle emergency closings.
- Manage the budget, payroll, and purchasing of books and materials.
- Ensure proper staffing, including hiring substitute teachers when needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Passionate about working with children and teens and fostering Jewish education.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in educational leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in one of the following: Judaic studies, education, or a related field.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency with technology platforms.
- A love for Judaism, youth, and a sense of humor are essential.
