Job DetailsTHIS POSITION IS 100% REMOTE. PRIMARY FUNCTION:THIS POSITION IS PART-TIME 20 HOURS PER WEEK. To provide for the continuity and operational effectiveness of the clinical strategic systems by managing the maintenance, accuracy, integrity and confidentiality of the system.
Schedule is 1:00PM-5:00PM Monday-Friday. On-Call every 5th week daily REQUIRED- hours 4:30pm-8:00am. On-Call every 5th week covers all hours of the weekend. Schedule requires holidays to be worked all hours if holiday falls during On-Call Shift. Usually between 1-3 holidays per year will be required. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Perform management support of clinical strategic systems including the Master Person Index (MPI).
- Monitor and validate the quality of MPI data within the clinical and ADT systems and provide feedback to pertinent business units.
- Identify and reconcile duplicate patients in both the clinical and ADT systems in order to support other applications, including scheduling, lab/rad, Health Information Network integrations and patient portal.
- Register legal name changes and alias names, when appropriate.
- Generate, distribute, and maintain Duplicate Medical Record Number logs, Surginet Update logs, Merge/Purge logs, and Zero Medical Record Number Merges/SSN Transfer logs.
- Report any suspected data problems identified through reconciliation processes to the appropriate parties. Identify and determine the root cause for improper MPI selection.
- Update and/or combine the necessary records in the appropriate system and when necessary, on the physical record or microfilm to reflect the correct medical record number
- Conduct medical record reviews for Performance Improvement and the Joint Commission initiatives.
- Participate on Christiana Care support teams in the integration of the clinical system towards the electronic health record.
- Act as a liaison between HIMS and Information Services (IS) as well as other operational/clinical areas in support of the clinical system.
- Assist IS in testing of interfaces and upgrades.
- Perform analysis of workflow as related to the clinical system and provide support to achieve consistency in managing clinical information throughout Christiana Care.
- Prepare and revise policies and procedures as warranted; conduct in-service/meetings with registration staff.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:- Bachelor or Associate Degree in HIM or related field (RHIA or RHIT).
- Experience with implementing and maintaining computer systems, including interfaces
- Two years relevant experience in an ambulatory or acute care environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:- Knowledge of documentation, privacy and security requirements at a state and federal level.
- Thorough knowledge of the Joint Commission requirements for Information Management.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with constant shifts in priority.
- Ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate strong leadership qualities.
- Ability to work well with others on all levels, displaying diplomacy and tact.
- Ability to utilize computer applications on various platforms.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:- AHIMA Certification as a RHIA/RHIT or equivalent experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:- Travel between Christiana Care locations
- Bending, stooping, lifting, reaching, carrying records not in excess of 15 lbs.
- Pulling and pushing carts of records not in excess of 28 lbs.
