Essex Westford School District (EWSD) has an opportunity for a School Safety Worker to join our safety team. School Safety Associate will support the district's instructional mission with specific responsibility for the physical and emotional safety of students and staff while engaged in learning and/or involved in school events.Our district vision is: Growing hearts and minds, for a better today and tomorrow: every day, every way, every one. Candidates with experience living or working in another country, the ability to fluently speak more than one language, and/or peace corp experience are encouraged to apply.Primary job duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Monitor student, staff, and visitor activity and building usage on school grounds.
- Respond to a variety of situations (e.g. accidents, injuries, alarms, etc.), taking the appropriate action to resolve immediate safety and/or security concerns.
- Respond to inquiries from students and parents regarding campus safety issues, and provide information, direction, and/or referral for addressing the inquiry.
- Use effective de-escalation strategies when addressing inappropriate conduct or behavior.
- Monitor weather conditions, and notify appropriate personnel of the need for snow and ice removal, and other safety hazards.
- Assist in responding to and investigating complaints/calls related to possible criminal activity, medical emergencies, and/or violations of district safety protocols.
