The main focus of a Simulation Educator is the responsibility for coordinating simulation education for a number of health programs, developing educational programs, teaching, coordination, and administrative tasks related to courses, workshops, and other events. The Simulation Educator works collaboratively with and supports the Director, Simulation Center as well as other Simulation Educators and Simulation Operations staff. Duties and Responsibilities
Collaboratively develops and implements high quality formative and summative scenarios and skills labs in order to meet student and faculty needs and accreditation standards.Develops and manages partnerships with external agencies including but not limited to colleges, universities, medical schools, and hospitals and ensures adherence to simulation-based best practices.Assists with and designs curriculum for simulation-based courses for all internal and external partners.Identify resources necessary for the successful operation of acute care, home health, and outpatient simulation educational experiences.Develops and implements inventory control procedures to ensure all experiences are implemented effectively.In collaboration with the Director, Simulation Center, develops data collection and record keeping procedures to consistently and effectively evaluate student learning.Trains simulation users in simulation experiential activities and the operation of high fidelity simulators.Incorporates standards and best practices to continuously update and refine simulation experiences and serves as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation experiences.Performs data analysis to evaluate learning for student experiences and satisfaction with services for continuing education experiences.Conduct tours of the facilities and promote the use of the interdisciplinary experience and academic learning center.Supports college accreditation needs as required.Develops and maintains the Central Piedmont simulation center policies and procedures manualCollaborates with the Director, Simulation Center, and leads certain aspects of the SSH accreditation preparation and application process as well as future compliance.Collaboratively develops and implements a Standardized Participant (SP) program for the simulation center including policies and procedures, training, and scheduling for the SPsWorks collaboratively with Sim Ops for technical support and maintenance of high fidelity manikins.Engage in opportunities to share information and best practices externally (i.e. presenter or panelist at conferences and local user groups).Actively participates in strategic action plan and program improvement initiativesOther duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications Bachelor Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a relevant health discipline.Holds a certification in a healthcare fieldTwo years simulation-based experience or three years post-secondary teaching experienceTwo years clinical work experiencePreferred Qualifications:
- MSN or Master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in a relevant health discipline or educational leadership or education.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator
- Simulation experience with various simulation technology and standardized patients
- Multidisciplinary healthcare experience highly preferred
