SUMMARY/PRIMARY PURPOSE: Manage daily operations of The Salvation Army Newton thrift store.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Assist customers and donors as needed or requested.
  • Operate cash register as requested.
  • Keep store neat and clean. Keep clothing racks sorted and stocked daily.
  • Receive donated goods. Offer receipt to donors. Properly sort items.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to store policies.
  • Be familiar with the overall work of The Salvation Army.
  • Report difficulties or problems to Store Manager.
  • Have a general knowledge of clothing, furniture, and other items.
  • MARGINAL DUTIES: Other similar and related duties may be assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Training or experience in customer service or retail display preferred.

    BACKGROUND: Position requires a background check to be completed and all background check results will be reviewed.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None required.

    COMPUTER/PROGRAM SKILLS: Ability to operate store cash register and credit card processing machine. Basic computer knowledge needed to access time clock and personal information via a web-based system.

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Must pass all applicable background checks.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
