Job DescriptionPOSITION PURPOSE: The Part-time Student Activities Event Assistant collaborates and assists the Coordinator of Student Activities and other staff on the Student Activities Team in planning, coordinating, and promoting student activities and other Student Activities special events. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as secondary advisor to student government; advise students on procedures and policies of the College relating to student activities.
  • Attend various student meetings and activities (days, nights, weekends, extended days).
  • Assist the Coordinator of Student Activities in planning, coordinating, and promoting student activities and special events.
  • Advise students on procedures concerning all planned student government elections; assist with SGA election process.
  • Supervise the organization (setup/teardown) of various student activities and events.
  • Maintain appropriate communication with students and club advisors concerning activities of clubs, organizations, and special events.
  • Attend meetings delegated by the Director of Student Development and the Coordinator of Student Activities.
  • Provide work direction and guidance to student workers.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

  • Possess excellent supervisory, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to promote and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and work well under limited time constraints.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other departments, external contractors and vendors, groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multiethnic and multicultural environment with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Required
  • Associate's degree
Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in student activities or event planning
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Variances from regular working hours may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
  • Busy working environment with numerous interruptions.
SALARY: $10.00 per hour / up to 19 hours per week
