Job Description Under the general supervision of the Director of Public Services, the Weekend Circulation Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of the library's Circulation Department on Saturdays and Sundays - generally 9:30 am - 6:00 pm Saturdays and 10:30 am - 5:00 pm Sundays. The Weekend Circulation Supervisor may be responsible for occasionally opening early for University events. This position requires an individual who is detail-oriented, self-motivated, goal and task-oriented, with highly effective interpersonal and communication skills. Work involves critical thinking, independent judgment and discretion. Must be a team player dedicated to excellent customer service. Please include a cover letter with application.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise the Circulation Department on weekends
- Supervise and train circulation student assistants
- Handle numerous circulation-related transactions, including checking out, checking in, and renewing library materials; creating and editing user records; and creating temporary WMS (library system) records for items without barcodes
- Employ special procedures for AV/tech equipment and circulating technology, including erasing data, recharging devices, ensuring that contents are included when items are checked in and out, and reporting broken equipment
- Answer questions from library patrons about library policies and procedures; answer basic reference questions and refers more complicated queries to the on-call librarian
- Assist patrons with the use of computers, printers, copier, and scanner; troubleshoot routine problems encountered by patrons in their use of library equipment
- Work collaboratively with other staff members and student staff, and communicate effectively with the Director of Public Services and staff on weekday shifts as necessary
- Assist with special shelving projects in the circulating collection as necessary
- Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience using databases, such as WorldShare Management System (WMS) or other integrated library system and using productivity software such as Microsoft Office
- Ability to occasionally cover other shifts and to work limited additional hours as mutually agreed upon by the employee and the supervisor
Work Environment: Requires some physical effort, i.e. some standing and walking, frequent light lifting (5-10 lbs.); some carrying moderate weight (12-20 lbs.); and the operation of office equipment in which manipulative skills and eye-hand coordination are important ingredients of productive operations.
