With a team of senior business lawyers with substantial in-house and general counsel experience, Outside GC provides private and public companies and non-profit organizations with outstanding corporate and IP legal services as needed at a fraction of the cost of either hiring a full-time general counsel or relying exclusively on law firm counsel. Clients typically develop a working relationship with one Outside GC lawyer and have access to the whole team for specific subject-matter experience.

YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM...

  • Experience: At least 10+ years of corporate legal practice, including experience as an in-house attorney, serving as a General Counsel and/or in another senior in-house legal role, and 3+ years of law firm training.
  • Specialized Expertise: Deep experience with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and state law equivalents in addition to expertise in wage & hour compliance.
  • Demonstrated Legal Expertise in the following areas:
    • Expertise in wage and hour compliance, including classification issues, overtime exemptions, and timekeeping practices.
    • ADA, FMLA, and corresponding state laws as they intersect with wage and hour issues.
    • Comprehensive knowledge and application of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) including minimum wage, overtime pay, and recordkeeping requirements.
    • Understanding of regulations concerning tipped wages and related practices.
    • Handling investigations and audits by the Department of Labor and state labor agencies.
    • Employee discipline and discharge in the context of FLSA and state law equivalents.
  • Education: J.D. from a nationally accredited law school.
  • Licensure: State bar membership in the state where you reside/practice.
