DescriptionJOB TITLE: PARTS CAGE CLERKJOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARYThe Parts Room Clerk is responsible for the organization and maintenance of the parts room and the tool crib. This position assists all Maintenance and Project Personnel by providing them with the tools and parts necessary to complete their tasks. The Parts Clerk will also be responsible for maintaining inventory by conducting cycle counts, researching and verifying inventory discrepancies, ordering and stocking parts through MVP System as necessary. This position will also be responsible for issuing and tracking of PO's through the MVP System. The Parts Clerk should continually seek out cost saving opportunities by requesting additional vendor quotes, cross-referencing current vendor pricing with other vendors, and perform cost comparisons to maximize savings. Support the review, understanding and compliance of all programs, policies and procedures contained in the Food Safety and Quality Management System.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES % OFITEM TIME DESCRIPTION1. 10% Maintain and organize the maintenance parts area and tool crib. 2. 10% Order requested items and log entries in the MVP Software System and audit vendor pricing to ensure maximum cost savings on a daily basis. 3. 10% Release or issue parts from inventory system on a daily basis.4. 10% Stock inbound parts in allocated bins or shelves. Clearly identify all locations with correct parts number and descriptions.5. 10% Take daily or weekly cycle counts of the inventory items in the maintenance parts area.6. 10% Assist all maintenance and production supervisor personnel and locate and record all parts used.7. 10% Retrieve requested parts from suppliers with company vehicle.8. 10% Communicate with the maintenance supervisor at all times. Communicate daily with the Operations Administrative Supervisor.9. 10% Evaluate and make recommendations / suggestions to make the Parts Room more efficient.10. 10% Maintain daily logs, produce and distribute maintenance reports through MVP system as required. Give daily feedback to mechanics on any issues with parts inventoryTOTAL 100%POSITION DIMENSIONS AND QUALIFICATIONSInternal Contacts: Maintenance and Operations Management, Operations Administrator, Purchasing, Accounting Department personnel, all S/R personnel, Q/C personnel, and Production personnel. External Contacts: Vendors, brokers, and delivery personnel. Education Level and Focus: High School Graduate or equivalent. Some college preferred.Years and Type of Related Experience Required: Minimum of five years experience in a maintenance parts room or similar position. Experience focused on attention to detail, cycle counts/inventory control, and reconciliation on computer based programs. Experience with MVP System or similar a plus. Use of both main frame and PC software, Excel preferred.Skills and Abilities:Interpersonal and Communication: Must be able to interact and coordinate with each department, motivated and able to work as a team member, able to follow instructions. Must be a detailed person with the ability to troubleshoot any and all issues. Technical and Analytical:Must have a good working knowledge of math, Excel software, and main frame systems. Exceptional organization skills, good telephone skills, reading and writing skills.Administrative and Operations:Excellent time management skills, ability to set priorities and work under pressure, ability to handle multiple tasks.Physical Demands: Lifting up to 50 lbs. Standing for long periods of time.Work Environment:Noisy, hot, cold, and dusty. Work in small office environment. Forklift and pedestrian traffic. Machines with moving parts. This is a Safety Sensitive position.Special Equipment Used: Forklift, bar code scanner, ten key, copier, PC and mainframe computer, fax.
