Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Parts Clerk based in Hammond, LA. This opening is for 1st shift, which operates during the hours of 7am - 3pm on Monday - Friday with the potential for overtime.

Parts Clerks are responsible for purchasing and receiving parts and supplies for total plant operations. They maintain and manage parts room inventory, MSDS controller, and cost savings on materials. Primary duties of a Parts Clerk include:

  • Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.
  • Understands, follows and enforces all established policies, procedures and recognized practices.
  • Purchases maintenance repairs and operating supplies.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Search for cost reductions by utilizing alternative low cost quality suppliers.
  • Receive FedEx/UPS shipments.
  • Facilitate parts room housekeeping.
  • Ensure proper receiving procedures are followed.
  • Maintain a close relationship with Production Manager to ensure proper inventory of packaging supplies.
  • Maintain an active file of all specialty items for production equipment.
  • Maintain an active file of all packaging supplies.
  • Maintain a current approved vendor list.
  • Work closely with Controller on various tasks including MSDS files.
  • Manage and issue all GOS materials and inventory levels in the GOS room.
  • Receive, update and put all receivables in inventory at specified locations.
  • Utilize computer literacy skills by maintaining excel spreadsheets and word files.
  • Made changes, additions, and modifications to PM programs and task lists.
  • Serves as a parts runner.
  • Responsible for purchase order and purchase order revisions utilizing the automated PO system.
  • Maintain inventory levels min/max amounts that have been established.
  • Maintain document room to standard.
  • Limited travel may be required
Qualifications:

A minimum of 2 years in manufacturing experience required. Previous Parts Clerk experience required.

Parts Clerks are required to interact with other managers, employees, vendors, and customers. Therefore, the following skills and proficiencies are also essential requirements of the position:

  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
  • Computer usage and typing skills are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.
  • Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.
Compensation Statement:The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.Benefits Statement:Benefits include medical, dental, vision and basic life insurance.
