Job DetailsJob Location0032 St. Therese Parish, Seattle - Seattle, WAPosition TypePart TimeSalary Range$15,960.00 - $17,670.00 Salary/yearDescriptionGENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION PURPOSE:Provides music for parish liturgies and other designated celebrations.ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:
- Collaborates with the Pastoral Leader, staff, and consultative bodies in implementing the mission of the parish.
- Responsible for appropriate parish equipment and facilities. This includes opening the church building as needed and ensuring it is secure at the end of work.
- Assures that appropriate and quality music is provided for parish liturgies. Selects music and by recruits and schedules musicians for the 9:00 AM Sunday Mass and other major parish liturgies celebrations as assigned.
- Coordinates the development and implementation of a music program for the 9:00 AM Sunday Mass. Implements the music program, makes music selections, and schedules and oversees musicians in collaboration with the pastoral leader, presider, and other staff as appropriate.
- Directs the 9:00AM Sunday Mass choir. Recruits, trains, and supports parish ministers of music, including the Cantor/leaders of song, and choral groups. Schedules practices and assures that accompanists and music are available. Provides assistance for parishioners needing music for weddings and funerals as assigned.
- Selects and develops participation aids for the assembly to encourage full, active, and conscious participation through singing.
- Attends monthly Liturgy Commissions meetings, serving as an ex officio member.
- Ensures appropriate copyright permissions, use fees and licenses have been obtained for all material used in the music program.
- Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required for the ministry. This is accomplished by reading appropriate materials and attending workshops and conventions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma with BA in Music preferred.
- Leads a life consistent with the Catholic faith and moral teaching.
- Verifiable experience in parish leadership and group collaboration.
- Demonstrated vocal proficiency and keyboard ability.
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication.
- Demonstrated experience effectively leading diverse groups of people.
- Demonstrated organization presentation, teamwork, technical and time management skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
