Position Overview
The Patient Care Assistant will deliver patient care services which encompass hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, elimination, and safety tasks as directed by the Charge Nurse, adhering to established guidelines. Responsibilities include:
- Accurately documenting patient records based on skill level and guidelines.
- Completing personal belonging sheets, recording height, weight, and vital signs upon patient admission.
- Orienting new residents to the facility and ensuring they receive necessary items for their stay.
- Responding promptly to call lights and other resident needs.
- Conducting rounds and repositioning residents as required.
- Measuring and reporting vital signs to the Charge Nurse accurately and timely.
- Applying proper devices as per physician or therapy instructions.
- Maintaining accurate intake and output records and reporting changes to the Charge Nurse at shift change.
- Assisting with procedures and treatments as instructed, such as Sitz baths and isolation techniques.
- Managing supplies and equipment on the unit and notifying appropriate staff of additional needs.
- Meeting job responsibilities by continuing education and accepting reassignments when necessary.
- Building positive working relationships with team members and maintaining confidentiality.
- Reporting to Charge Nurse at the end of each shift and participating in transitions with the next shift.
- Completing any other assigned duties as appropriate.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma preferred but not mandatory.
- Current Certified Nurse Assistant certification in the state of work.
- CPR certification required or willing to obtain within six months of employment.
- Experience in long-term care is preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills for interaction with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Strong time management abilities and organization skills.
- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and assist heavy objects using proper techniques.
- Ability to transfer and move patients weighing 200+ lbs safely.
- Proficient in managing equipment weighing over 40 lbs.
- Manual dexterity and coordination for patient care and equipment handling.
- Ability to perform documentation accurately in writing or using a tape recorder.
- Visual acuity to distinguish colors effectively.
The pay range for this role is $16.08 - $25.24 per hour.
