The Patient Care Assistant is a trained medical professional skilled in a variety of routine administrative and clinical tasks, helping to ensure our medical centers run smoothly. This role is essential in supporting our physician-led Care Team in delivering high-quality primary care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Measure and record patient vital signs and take medical histories.
- Communicate patient needs to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist with routine screening tests.
- Monitor patients and report any changes in conditions.
- Perform various medical and therapeutic procedures as directed.
- Administer medications and provide first aid when needed, under physician supervision.
- Ensure medical supplies and equipment are properly maintained and sterilized.
- Manage patient communications, including phone messages and prescription refills.
- Support patients in making healthy lifestyle choices through health coaching.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable training required.
- At least 1 year of experience in a medical setting is preferred; clinical rotation training may be considered.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
- Experience with geriatric patients is a plus.
- Familiarity with EMR systems is preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is an advantage.
