Job Summary
**The shift for this job is 7pm-7:30am** The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) receives daily assignments and functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse to carry out direct patient care responsibilities. All patient care team members act to meet patient needs and learn new skills to achieve quality patient care and customer service. Team members promote a cooperative working relationship with each other, other staff, and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to age-specific needs and cultural differences and expressing and accepting feedback in a professional manner. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $30.51 - $38.15 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
The Surgical / Oncology unit cares for a variety of oncology and surgical patients including those with urological, gynecological, colorectal, head and neck, liver and pancreatic diseases. Complex wound care, ostomy care and tracheotomy care make patient education a priority for both the patients and their caregivers after discharge. Multiple opportunities exist for nurses to coordinate innovative treatment modalities for the oncology patient population on this unit. Nurses work in an area where a dynamic, interdisciplinary, supportive and healing approach is the focus. This unit provides the opportunity to work in a cutting edge environment were excellent care can be provided in a patient and family focused setting. Chemotherapy certification is available and is required for the staff who administer chemotherapy.
