Patient Care Associate - Brooklyn Hospital Center : Job Details

Requirements * High School Graduate or GED * Completion of Medical Assistant program -- HIGHLY PREFERRED * Completion of an EKG / Phlebotomy training program from accredited institution * One (1) year patient care experience in a healthcare facility * Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) * Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training and or Certification completed within 90 days of hire and every two years thereafter * Knowledge of phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring, rapid COVID testing and ability to document results in designated systems * Ability to perform quality electrocardiogram tests * Knowledge of the Patient Care Associate role in the care of patients identified with Suicidal Risk/ aggression and Trauma risk factors * Ability to use computers and understanding of computer systems Job Description The Patient Care Associate, under the guidance of a Registered Professional Nurse, provides basic nursing care and implements selected aspects of the patient's nursing plan of care within the limits of his/her on-the-job training and in accordance with the Brooklyn Hospital Center's mission and goals.
