The Patient Care Technician provides personal care and related services to patients. The Patient Care Technician may operate as a patient's caregiver under the direction, instruction and supervision of a doctor, nurse and/or medical professional.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assists in identifying needs and developing/modifying plan of carePerforms or assists the patient with personal hygiene needs which include: bathing, skin care, grooming, dressing, oral hygiene and toileting needs.Monitors vital signs and reports any deviation from normal values to a medical professionalAssists in maintenance of a healthful and safe environmentImplements progressive mobility guidelinesTurns/positions bed-bound patientsProvides nutritious meals as prepared to patient as directedAssists the patient with ambulation/transfersPerforms or assists patient with certain treatments and/or medications which are selfadministered, ordered by the physician, approved and supervised by a nurse, and allowed by state lawMay assist the paramedical personnel with rehabilitative processes as directedPromotes the patient mental alertness through involvement in activitiesObserves and reports any changes in the patient's physical, mental, or emotional condition to a medical professional in a timely mannerMay perform EKGs as requiredPerforms other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum Requirements:Minimum high school diploma or equivalent preferredAt least one (1) year of successful work experience preferredNational Certified Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) certification preferred and may be required per state/contractComplies with all relevant professional standards of practiceParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable to job siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of ageBenefitsAt Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits:Competitive pay & weekly paychecksHealth, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) savings planAwards and recognition programs*Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.About AmergisAmergis, formerly known as Maxim Healthcare Staffing, has served our clients and communities by connecting people to the work that matters since 1988.
