The Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Department of Middlesex College invites applications for part-time, non-credit instructors to teach the following course during the 2024 Academic Year:
- Patient Care Technician Instructor
Important: Please note that a non-credit instructor is not an adjunct position. Successful candidates teach courses in the Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Department. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The ability to teach 20 hours (5 evenings) per week for up to 4 hours per evening in person, which includes but not limited to the following subject areas:
- Personal hygiene; vital signs; activities of daily living; infection control
- Anatomy & Physiology
- EKG: Performing and Interpretation
- Phlebotomy: Venipuncture and other sampling procedures
- Patient Safety
- Preparing student for industry certification as Patient Care Technician, EKG Technician and/or Phlebotomy Technician
- Psycho/Social considerations of the patient
- Care Planning/Interdisciplinary Care
- Hospice Care
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current registration as a NJ Licensed Registered, a Patient Care Technician, Medical Assistant, or Certified Nursing Assistant
- Three (3) years of experience working in an in-patient environment
- Experience in General Nursing Care, EKG, and Phlebotomy
- Previous experience teaching adult learners
- Ability to teach in Edison, New Brunswick, or Perth Amboy
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience teaching in higher education
