Job Description :

UPMC Western Maryland High-Level Care is looking for a full time Patient Care Technician or CNA! This is a full-time dayshift position that requires rotating weekend and holiday shifts.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Document medical records and perform clerical tasks.

  • Support departmental changes, projects, and quality initiatives.

  • Adhere to patient care policies and safety procedures.

  • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team.

  • Provide patient care and assist with daily living activities.

  • Apply and monitor patient restraints as needed.

  • Receive and act on feedback for continuous improvement.

  • Report equipment issues and maintain interdepartmental communication.

  • Perform core nursing assistant tasks and additional advanced skills as required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must also have either

  • 1 Year of general healthcare experience, OR

  • 6 months of experience as UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency achieved with 120 days of hire/transfer/promotion, OR

  • enrollment in PT/OT/PA program or related healthcare training program with completion of at least one clinical rotation, OR

  • completion of a bachelors degree in a health sciences field.

  • Successful completion of UPMC patient care technician class? Successful completion of basic information system training.

  • Microcomputer experience preferred.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred.

  • Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
