POSITION SUMMARY: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Associate Director- Development. In this role, the successful candidate The Editorial and Creative Associate Director will report to and work closely with the Editorial and Creative Director, and will play a key role in project planning and oversight of communications for the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs. They will assist in the development and implementation of multichannel content strategy. In, particular, they will provide clear editorial and creative feedback and guidance to team members as they plan and produce communications, helping to ensure that all output is timely, best-in-class, and effective in meeting its objectives.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works closely with gift officers to scope, develop, and execute project-specific communications strategies
Manages, coaches, and supports key writersboth in-house and freelanceto help them reach the highest possible standards for work produced
Builds strong relationships with key members of the Stewardship and Strategy teams, recognizing that the goals and purviews of these teams and the Communications team are deeply interrelated. Contributes significantly to productive workflows and information sharing across teams.
Helps writers to sort through complex project requirements and information, and to organize it into compelling and effective communications tools for fundraising
Where needed, researches, writes, and edits impactful communications including but not limited to proposals, letters, reports, and talking points that differentiate NYU Langone
Co-creates overall campaign strategy and communications
Oversees team workflow and develops clear methods for tracking projects and sharing status
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree required and 5-8+ years of relevant experience required in a Communications in a Development environment (7+ preferred) Demonstrably superior writing and editing skills High level of skill at facilitating key conversations with stakeholders and developing a creative brief or project plan for communications projects Mentor-level ability to effectively organize written work to compelling effect A diverse portfolio of relevant work Previous experience preferred working on a comprehensive campaign or in an academic medical center and with research faculty and clinicians Strategic leader with expert communications planning, execution and management skills Ability to collaborate and build consensus Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 2+ years of management experience strongly preferred and graduate degree preferred
