The starting rate for this position is: $16.89Rate of pay displayed reflects the beginning of the pay scale. At the time of an offer, determination of your offer will reflect your skills and experience as it relates to the position.SummaryThe Patient Companion Provides observation to patients within an assigned department of the hospital.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.Provides observation to patients within an assigned department of the hospital.Follows policies and procedures outlined by the Nursing Division and SJH.Observes the safety of the patient.Orients and reorients the patient as appropriateIdentifies and reports potential alterations in safety, including environmental hazards.Anticipates need for assistance in providing safety for the patient.Remains in the room of the patient, requiring constant observation, until relieved by another staff member.Obtains shift report and plan of care for shift from supervising Registered Nurse.Verbalizes appropriate use of assistive devices such as hearing aids, glasses, teeth, etc., and can assist patient and/or family in placing these items on the patient.Call nursing personnel to attend to any patient care needs.Reports behavior and/or cognitive changes to nursing personnel.Upon completion of appropriate training and competencies will assume the role of continuous visual telemonitor (CVT) as needed.Maintains cleanliness of patient care areasMaintains annual competenciesAttends all mandatory training as assigned within the timeframe givenOther duties as consistent with this role.Job RequirementsJob Knowledge and SkillsCrisis Prevention Training (CPI) preferred or obtained prior to completion of orientation.Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED preferredHealthcare experience preferredBasic Cardiac Life Support preferredGeriatric or Mental Health experience preferredAn equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.Working Conditions/Physical DemandsMust possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
