  • Collect and enter patient prepayments and send appropriate payment documentation to the AR Department for processing.
  • Under the direction of the Patient Financial Services Manager, run daily reports to aide in the pre-admission patient communication and ongoing authorization processes.
  • Monitor daily new admissions and correspond with Central intake and the AR Departments regarding status of referral entries and insurance verifications.
  • Scan pre-admission financial information and any authorization correspondence into patients' charts.
  • Sort and distribute any incoming mailed correspondence from patients, clinical offices, other departments, and/or insurance companies.
  • Assemble and mail the follow-up admission financial packet to the patient.
  • Maintain up-to-date copies of pre-admission financial forms and authorization cover sheets.
  • Under the direction of the Patient Financial Services Manager, print appropriate clinical documentation from patients' charts for authorization requests.
  • Under the direction of the Patient Financial Services Manager, enter all authorization approvals into the appropriate areas of the patients' charts once received.
  • Respond to clinical office emails regarding status of authorization requests and pre-admission phone calls.
  • Under the direction of the Patient Financial Services Manager, conduct year-end reviews of all active patient accounts.
Job Requirements:
  • High-School diploma required.
  • 2 years of experience in finance utilizing people skills.
  • Experience in patient financial services (i.e. insurance benefits, payment plans, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Commercial, State, and Federal insurance plans and any corresponding authorization processes.
  • Possess knowledge of medical as well as billing terminology and is skilled in reading, understanding, and utilizing on a daily basis.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must possess the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management abilities.
  • High computer proficiency and ability to navigate database systems; ability to generate multiple reports and MS Office products.
  • Experience specifically in home health/ hospice/palliative care patient services preferred.
