About New Day Recovery: New Day Recovery, located in Northeast Ohio, is an inpatient drug and alcohol treatment center dedicated to offering compassionate, supportive care for individuals facing addiction. Our mission is to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for patients as they take the first steps toward a brighter, healthier future. Position Summary: The Patient Healthcare Associate (PHA), plays a vital role in supporting patients through their recovery journey. PHAs assist with self-administration of medication and monitor patients experiencing symptoms of substance withdrawal. They ensure the well-being of patients through vital sign checks, crisis intervention, and maintaining accurate medical records. This role requires a compassionate and composed individual capable of providing both physical and emotional support to patients as they work through challenging periods of recovery. Hours: Join our team for the weekend shifts, working 2p - 10p to provide care and support when it's needed most. This position is ideal for someone who prefers later hours and can deliver compassionate, high-quality service throughout the afternoon and evening. Key Responsibilities:
- Medication Assistance: Guide patients in self-administering medication and monitor their responses to ensure proper adherence and timely intervention if needed.
- Vital Sign Monitoring: Accurately measure and document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation, and take action as necessary if values fall outside of established parameters.
- Patient Interaction: Engage with patients in a non-judgmental, empathetic manner, offering emotional support and encouragement during their stay.
- Documentation: Record patient information accurately in electronic medical records, ensuring seamless communication of critical data within the care team.
- Crisis Management: Under the guidance of the detox nursing staff, assist in de-escalating potential crisis situations and ensure patient and staff safety.
- Light Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized environment that promotes patient safety and comfort.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the detox nursing team and other healthcare professionals to support patient needs and ensure high-quality care.
- Team Meetings: Participate in regular staff meetings and contribute to continuous improvement discussions.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Experience working in the medical field as an STNA or nurse's aide preferred.
- Certification: CPR/First Aid certification required, with training in Narcan administration.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements in healthcare.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to stay calm and exercise sound judgment under pressure.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform job responsibilities within a multi-level facility.
