THE ROLE WILL INVLOVE REGULARLY DEALING WITH DEATH AND GRIEF. IF THIS IS NOT THE TYPE OF SETTING YOU WOULD BE COMFORTABLE WOKING IN DAY AFTER DAY, HOSPICE FULL TIME MONDAY - FRIDAY 10am - 6:30pm Jamaica Hospital Medical Center's Ferrara Family Center for Hospice Care is a 10-bed unit. Our Hospice Center provides comfort care for those with life-limiting illnesses; and our goal is to enhance each person's quality of life medically, spiritually and emotionally. We are currently seeking a full-time Patient Information Representative for immediate opportunity in our in our Hospice Unit. DUTIES
- Utilizing EPIC software to input, update and retrieve patient data.
- Assisting patients in obtaining services, understanding policies and making health care decisions.
- Assembling charts for patient admissions.
- Coordinating communication between patients, family members, medical staff, administrative staff, or regulatory agencies.
- Interviewing patients or their representatives to identify problems relating to care.
- Maintaining knowledge of community services and resources available to patients.
- Referring patients to appropriate health care services or resources.
- Investigating and directing patient inquiries or complaints to appropriate medical staff members.

Requirements - High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have AHA approved BLS.
- Must have current/recent EPIC experience.
- One-year secretarial experience required.
- Prior OR scheduling experience highly desirable.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Satisfactory written and verbal communication skills required.
- Must have good computer skills and software applications (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- MUST be able to float as needed between day or evening shifts.
