Nurse Manager - In-Patient Addiction Units (Eastern Long Island Hospital) (2404616) Nurse Manager - In-Patient Addiction Units (Eastern Long Island Hospital) Position Description: The Nurse Manager is responsible for the clinical management of designated units including the supervision, direction, and support of the units' nursing staff in meeting the goal of providing quality patient care for patients ranging in age from newborn and beyond, from admission to discharge, in accordance with the established standards for professional nursing practice 24 hours per day. Experience: Two plus (2+) years of In-Patient Psychiatric Healthcare experience. Two plus (2+) years of Healthcare Leadership experience. Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Current licensure to practice professional nursing in New York State. A minimum of B.S./B.A. degree in Nursing, Business Administration, or Health Care Administration required (Master's in Nursing preferred). Clinical nursing practice in positions of successively greater responsibility. Knowledge of personnel administration and staff planning. Ability to work effectively with others and ability to manage personnel. Willingness to work closely and cooperatively as a member of an administrative team to ensure effective nursing practice. Effective communication skills. Sound judgment in clinical nursing, nursing education and personnel development. Physically capable of safely executing the duties and responsibilities required for the position. BLS required, ACLS preferred ANCC/Specialty skills cert. Physical Demands: Must be able to lift or assist in lifting client from bed to chair to standing or vice versa. Must be able to respond quickly in an emergent situation. Must be able to communicate orally in an emergent situation. Must be able to use stairs in an emergent situation. Must be able to walk, carry semi-heavy equipment and reach overhead.
