Patient Registration Rep. - Community Health Systems : Job Details

Job Summary:As a Patient Registration Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support to patients during the registration process. Your primary focus will be on ensuring a positive customer experience through efficient and accurate completion of administrative and clerical tasks.Responsibilities:* Collecting and inputting accurate patient information into the Electronic Medical Record system to maintain the integrity of health records.* Scheduling appointments, verifying demographic and insurance information, and completing pre-registration tasks to facilitate accurate billing.* Identifying situations where clinical healthcare staff intervention is necessary and coordinating patient flow efficiently.* Maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.* Assisting in Care Coordination services and contributing to Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities.* Handling Prior Authorizations, referrals, and providing specialist resource information.* Tracking and logging patient data accurately.* Attending meetings and performing other duties as assigned.Qualifications:* High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.* Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare setting.* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy.Preferred Qualifications:* Associates Degree in a related field.* In-depth knowledge of medical terminology.* 3 years of experience in high-level customer service and relevant healthcare roles.* Experience with Electronic Medical Record systems.Physical Requirements:This role involves periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, and job-related stress. Evening or weekend work may be required, and occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to ten pounds may be necessary.Please note: The position of Patient Registration Representative is represented by United Healthcare Workers East, Local 1199, with a pay range of $16.12 - $19.46/hr. based on experience.
