This position is responsible for consistently monitoring patients who are at risk for potential injury or self injury taking direction and guidance from the Registered Nurse #/or Director. As appropriate, the Companion will assist with daily patient hygiene needs, ensure patient status is communicated to other members of the care team and will engage patients in activities as indicated. Primary Job Responsibilities: Monitors patients to ensure safety from falls or self harm with attention to the maximum comfort and satisfaction of patients. Provides for patient safety through appropriate prevention measures (direct visualization/constant observation #/or suicide precautions #/or fall precautions.)# Individualizes services based on physical/developmental attributes while maintaining an environment conducive to meeting safety needs. Engages in patient in diversion activities as appropriate. Encourages patient interaction and stimulation. Assists with patient ambulation. Provides assistance with food and nutrition.# Assists RNs and PCAs with daily hygiene.# Utilizes appropriate communication techniques. Observes and reports patient status changes, unsafe situations to members of the care team.# Interacts with patient family members to share appropriate information and respond to any concerns and complaints raised. Education # Qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
