Day.Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI is seeking a Patient Safety Companion to join our team!Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse the Patient Safety Companion (PSC) is responsible for providing in-person, constant, alert observation and monitoring of patients demonstrating behaviors that pose a threat to self or others while maintaining a direct line of sight to the patient. In collaboration with the patient care team, the PSC ensures the patient environment is free of obstacles and minimizes the risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. The PSC may also assist with basic activities of daily living. HOURS: Occasional or .001 FTE, .8 hours every 2 weeks. Varied shifts. Experience/Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent beneficial.
  • Knowledge of patient care and customer service standards and practices normally acquired through a demonstrated ability to read, write, remember/follow verbal or written instructions.
  • Experience in a hospital or nursing home setting preferred; however, training provided upon hire.
  • Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Willing to work in adverse conditions and the ability to convey a positive image.
  • Ability to read and write as well as remember and follow verbal or written instructions.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Strong observation ability.
  • Ability to respond calmly and swiftly under pressure.
  • Ability to follow direction and feedback.
  • Annual competencies as required by Aspirus and/or various regulatory agencies based on entity and/or job position.
